The passing of friends

Hamilton Operatic Society was saddened to learn today of the passing of two dear friends of the society, Fred Rowe and Don Ryrie. We send our condolences to both families.

Fred Rowe

From the obituary published in the Waikato Times on the 13th of September 2023:

"Passed away 8th September 2023, aged 93 years. Much loved husband of Sally, loved dad of the late Trish, Graham and Natalie. Father-in-law of Tony, Sue and Anton. Loved 'Grandpuff' to Mikayla, Matthew, and Isla. A celebration of his life [was] held at Seddon Park Funeral Home Chapel, Hamilton, on 15th September at 10.30am. Will be sadly missed."

Fred was involved with Hamilton Operatic Society Inc. from 1962 to 1997 as both cast member and crew member. He will be remembered most recently working  Front of House at Founders Theatre, the Meteor and Clarence St Theatre.

Don Ryrie

From the obituary published by The New Zealand Herald on the 3rd of October 2023:

"RYRIE, Donald Alexander (Don). Unexpectedly but peacefully at home on Sunday 1 October 2023, aged 82 years. Dearly loved husband of Sally, much loved father of Jan, Sue, and Helen, and grandchildren. "A staunch National supporter to the End!" A service to celebrate Don's life will be held in Central Otago Funerals Chapel, 16 Ennis Street, Alexandra, on Friday 6 October, at 1:30pm, followed by a private cremation. Special thanks to the emergency services who attended to Don. Messages to 39 Thyme Crescent, Alexandra, 9320."

Don was involved with Hamilton Operatic Society Inc. from 1961 to 1989  and is remembered below by friend of the society Cynthia Graham.
