Hamilton Operatic Society is one of New Zealand’s oldest and most celebrated musical theatre groups.
We have cemented our role as one of the most successful and professional musical theatre groups in New Zealand.
With history dating back over 100 years, we are proud of our roots and traditions but not afraid to push boundaries to make sure we stay relevant and continue to captivate our audiences, both young and old.
Our enduring success is largely due to an unwavering commitment to producing theatre with high production values. This means we don’t cut corners. Ever.
Our audiences know that a night out at a Hamilton Operatic production is a guaranteed feast for the senses which will leave them with a spring in their step.
From the onstage performers to our creative leaders and technical experts, we are an organisation that values and nurtures our talent and diverse skillsets. We do this in myriad ways, sometimes partnering with local high schools, offering a variety of workshops and regularly producing theatre for youth and led by youth.
Reliant almost exclusively on volunteers, we are also committed to cultivating a deep knowledge and understanding of stagecraft in the younger generation.
As a not-for-profit organisation, Hamilton Operatic Society Inc. is reliant on volunteers and the generosity of the community and local businesses. You can learn more about our volunteer positions and sponsorship opportunities under the Get Involved page on this website.
The Society is made up of financial members represented by a Board of Management, which are elected annually at their Annual General Meeting. Click here for membership information.
We couldn’t do what we do without the support of our community funders.
Thank you for your generous sponsorship.
