An awe-inspiring new look production of the timeless classic!

Founders Theatre

Directed by David Sidwell

Musical Direction by Clare Henderson & Jenny Going

Choreographed by Leona Lenore Robinson

Music by Richard Rodgers & Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II
Book by Howard Lindsay & Russel Crouse

One of the world's best loved musicals returns to Hamilton! Set in 1938, The Sound of Music tells the story of Maria Rainer, a free-spirited nun who is hired by Captain George Von Trapp to care for his seven children. Her growing rapport with the youngsters, coupled with her generosity of spirit, gradually captures the heart of the stern captain, and they marry. Upon returning from their honeymoon they discover that Austria has been invaded by the Nazis, who demand the captain's immediate service in the German navy. The family's narrow escape over the mountains to Switzerland on the eve of World War II remains one the most thrilling and inspirational finales ever presented in musical theatre.
