Accommodation in Hamilton

Frank’N’Furter's coming and this time it's personal!

We'd like if we may, to take you on a strange journey... One dark and stormy night, recently engaged youngsters Brad and Janet are stranded with a flat tyre. Seeking assistance at a nearby secluded castle, they are drawn into the fiendish time warped plans of Dr Frank’N’Furter, mad transvestite scientist bent on creating the perfect male specimen.

Plunged into the decadent, warm waters of sins of the flesh, the once wholesome couple endure erotic nightmares beyond any measure and sensual daydreams to treasure forever in a rather special evening they will never forget.

Richard O’Brien’s kinky, catchy cult classic is an intoxicating satire of hokey RKO musicals and sex and science-fiction double features. Join Brad, Janet, Riff-Raff and Magenta for a pelvic-thrusting night at the theatre past your wildest antici……pation!

Everything is in readiness Hamilton, we merely await for you to give the word...

HAMILTON'S ROCKY CONNECTION:

Hamilton is where the show's English-born creator, Richard O'Brien, watched horror and science-fiction movies as a youth and developed a love for rock'n'roll.

On 25 November last year Richard returned to the city and led the Time Warp at the old Embassy Theatre site in Victoria Street to unveil a bronze statue of transvestite Riff Raff.

"It's a big thing having a statue. You generally used to have to go overseas and kill people and plant the flag in somebody else's land before you got a statue," he said.

O'Brien's family moved to Tauranga from England in 1952 after his father decided to trade accountancy for sheep farming. He returned to England 12 years later.

Inspired by his teenage love of B-movies and rock'n'roll, he penned The Rocky Horror Show, which premiered on a London stage in 1973. The movie, made two years later, also became a cult favourite.

The statue is the first public artwork by Weta Workshops, special effect creators for big budget movies such as The Lord of the Ringsand Master and Commander.
