Released
in 1997, THE FULL MONTY stormed the UK box office becoming
the most
successful British screen comedy ever. As a film, THE FULL
MONTY won the
Evening Standard Award for Best Film. In this
faithful stage adaptation it matched
that by winning the Evening Standard Award for Best Musical and receiving
nominations for a staggering nine Tony Awards.
All the characters, the
laughter and the tenderness of the film the whole world fell in love with
are brought vividly to life in this
triumphant stage musical.
Desperate times call for
desperate measures!
A group of unemployed
steelworkers hopes to replenish their empty wallets and boost their flagging
morale by following in the footsteps of the
Chippendales
strippers. These guys are hardly what you would think of as buff, and few
can even dance. They simply take these problems in stride, because these are
men with a plan - displaced, unemployed, and feeling suffocated by the women
in their lives, they just want to earn a little respect. To drum up
interest, they boast they'll go 'the full monty', something they hadn't
planned and aren't sure they can deliver. Will they? Won't they? Can they
keep their antics from their families? Can they stay out of trouble? Can
they pull a crowd? All will be revealed…
